Sex and Relationship Education

Governors have agreed that children will be taught Sex and Relationship Education from Year 2 to Year 6 based on the SRE programme. Your child will be taught age appropriate content to ensure your child has a realistic understanding of thier developing and changing bodies. Aspects of Sex Education are contained within the Science National Curriculum Programmes of Study, for example developing knowledge of the parts of the body and how they work, and also within our PSHE curriculum. These are included within our normal curriculum planning. Should you wish to withdraw your child from the school's Sex Educaiton Programme we ask you to come into school to discuss our policy.

Parents are notified of the detail and content of the SRE programme and are encouraged to view the materials if they wish.

“Longlands school is special because you feel like you belong and you are cared for. Teachers listen to us and are kind and helpful.”
