PTA/ Friends of Longlands
FOL (Friends of Longlands School) is our version of a PTA (Parent Teacher Association). Anyone can be a friend of the school and we rely on our parents and grandparents, present and past, to help us. Everyone is welcome to participate in our gatherings, which are very informal, and take part in various school events.
FOL were formed to fundraise for the benefit of the pupils at our school. However, the events we plan focus on the social aspect. It is very important that mums and dads enjoy the association with the school as much as the children.
During the year a number of social events are held. Past events have included Easter and Halloween Bingo, Christmas and Summer Fairs, pupil discos and quizzes. These events help us to raise funds for the school at the same time as enjoying ourselves. This money goes to providing extra equipment and facilities for our children to enjoy which would not otherwise be affordable.
We are always looking for new parents to get involved in whatever way they can. This could be by coming to meetings to help generate new ideas, assisting in project managing one of the events, helping out at an event (stacking chairs, tidying up, running a stall, making tea etc.) or just coming along as a participant and having fun, meeting new people and helping raise much needed funds.
Remember, if you have a child at Longlands Community Primary School you are already a 'Friend of the School'. We look forward to welcoming you to one of our meetings or events and wish you and your child a happy and rewarding association with both FOL and the school.
For more information about FOL please contact Miss Sarah Morris (Teacher link for FOL) or ask in the school office for current committee members and information about school events.
