Family Learning

We are keen to support parents in as many ways as we can, by keeping them informed about their child's education and holding information sessions about aspects of school life. Through our EYFS induction programme (PIPs) we seek to give parents strategies to use to support their children with their learning at home.

We welcome parents in to school each morning through our 'Open Door' early morning policy, and continue to offer other opportunities for parents to get involved with the curriculum. E.g. through open events , Stay and Play sessions in Early Years, Bacon Butty and Coffee Mornings, invitations  to special events and productions.

We know, however, that some parents feel they lack skills to support their children confidently. Parents often tell us, for example, that 'Maths has changed since I was at school.' Each term we run events for parents to support parents help their child's learning in areas such as reading, maths, motor skills development and specific SEND difficulties.

We also work closely with the Family Learning Team to offer courses to meet the needs of parents who would like to brush up on their Literacy and Maths skills. These are arranged on a request basis from their service. Many of our parents have gone on to gain recognised qualifications from the basic foundation courses. The Family Learning Team is very flexible and will tailor courses to meet the needs of the group.

We also offer 10 week Solihull Approach to Parenting groups where parents can come together in a supportive atmosphere with an aim to increase emotional health and well being  and to share parenting experiences.

"Such a great school – always welcoming and friendly. Staff are always approachable and easy to speak to, both formally and informally."
