Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Provision
A key principle which underpins the ethos of the school is that all children are valued and are entitled to equality of educational opportunity.
This means that all children's need are regarded as special and that children with learning difficulties will be addressed naturally within the context of the school's learning policy.
At Longlands we define a child with Special Educational Needs as a child who:
•has significantly greater difficulty than the majority of children of the same age
•has a disability which prevents or hinders progress

"Parents feel the staff are very approachable, willing to listen to any concerns/issues however small, they feel they are heard. Parents felt that pupils were accepted for who they were and that their needs were embraced and addressed rather than the pupil being made to feel different. The parents valued the understanding, support and positive relationships the TAs develop with their children and how this enables the children to make progress." Parent Responses to SEN Audit 2012
